smart snacking tips for weight lossPoor snacking is a very common mistake. We often get the same number of calories snacking as we would for lunch or dinner. Let’s see what you can eat without harming your diet.

Let’s start with some snack facts.

1. Since a snack is not a main meal, then it should not have a lot of calories. Snacks with a large number of calories only adds to your daily intake and will eventually lead to weight gain.

2. A snack should be healthy and should contain the right nutrients. It is better if it is a healthy food. That is, it should not be fried, fatty, sweet or salty food.
3. It is better if a snack is rich with fiber and protein.

Healthy snacks are good because they can help satisfy hunger, give you extra nutrients and help you lose weight at times. Here are some examples of the simplest, low-calorie, but smart snacking.

Fruits or berries. Fruits or berries are ideal for snacking because they contain a lot of vitamins and minerals, including potassium and magnesium.

The best fruits are those with medium and low levels of sugar – oranges, grapefruit, apples, pears, etc. (except bananas, grapes and figs.)

Kefir or yogurt. One cup of yogurt contains around 100 calories. Add a slice of whole bread,  which is about 50 calories and you will get a wonderful snack which will not exceed 150 calories.

Yogurt perfectly satisfies hunger. But keep in mind that yogurt should be natural, sugar-free fruit and without additives.

Nuts and dried fruits. This is a very smart snack, but it is important to be strict about your portion size. Nuts have a lot of fat and protein, their portion is measured not by the handful or even pinches. Try not to eat more than 7-10 nuts. In the dried fruit is a lot of natural sugar – it is unlikely to benefit our health and beauty.

Smoothie. This useful snack combines milk and all kinds of fruit. Preparing smoothies in a blender, and the process takes less than a couple minutes. For example, mix in a blender a cup of skim milk, half a cup of low-fat yogurt with live cultures, 2 teaspoons of honey and one banana.

Boiled egg. This is a fast and easy snack! One boiled egg contains only 80 calories. Eggs are an excellent source of protein, which allows the body to feel full, but it does not add fat folds at the waist. Instead it actually helps reduce them.

Vegetables. Instead of fatty and salty sandwiches, have some fresh vegetables, such as carrots, celery and cherry tomatoes. Since fresh vegetables have a lot of water and fiber, and they quickly saturate.
